Lazio’s lean run in the Rome derby now stands at five games over two seasons and they really lost their heads in the last 20 minutes as they had two men sent off. Both Stefan Radu and Matuzalem were dismissed in the last five minutes, while had Captain to thank for both of the goals.

Roma nearly took the lead after four minutes and when David found some space in the midfield and rocketed an effort from 30 yards out that rattled the cross bar.

was looking to dictate the Lazio midfield and was unlucky not to see his cross come shot find anyone as it whistled across the six yard box.

With five minutes to go in the half, Roma thought they scored when played a lovely delicate pass to Francesco Totti who found Jeremy Menez, who crossed in for but his goal bound effort was brilliantly blocked by Ledesma when the goal was gaping.

Both Francesco Totti and Jeremy Menez combined well and Menez was brilliantly denied by Stephan Lichtsteiner’s last ditch challenge. From the resulting corner Totti found Menez at the back post however he shot just wide.

Lazio then had two chances to take the lead, the first chance came when Lichsteiner got a cross in from the right which just evaded . The second chance was clearer cut, when a Hernanes cross from the right hand side found Floccari who headed wide.

Moments later a cynical stamp on the face off Francesco Totti by Matuzalem went unpunished. But Lazio were reduced to 10 men with five minutes to go when Stefan Radu ran about ten yards to headbutt Fabio Simplicio right in front of the linesman.

In the first minute of six minutes of added time, Roma were awarded a penalty when Fabio Simplico was brought down by Cristian Brocchi. Matuzalem was sent off for his protests at the penalty decision.
