Former Roma boss Claudio Ranieri has declared that had Francesco Totti played for either Barcelona or Manchester United, he would have been one of the world’s greatest players.
Totti is currently preparing for life under Luis Enrique, the new coach in Rome, who replaced Ranieri in the full-time role, following the short tenure of interim coach Vincenzo Montella.
Despite claiming Totti to be a “lazy” individual, Ranieri heaped the praise on the Giallorossi icon.
“Totti is lazy,” Ranieri affirmed to Gazzetta del Sud. “Sometimes he wouldn’t train from Monday to Saturday, so I’d start him on the bench.
“The current coaches have called him lazy, and it’s a statement that I agree with, but he is the greatest player I’ve ever coached.
“If he had left Roma to play for Barcelona or Manchester United, he would have won several Ballon D’or crowns.”

In my opinion he’s one of the greatest players in the world anyway. His record proves that.
He has his issues & quirks, like all great players, but Roma tifosi wouldn’t have him any other way.

Have to agree, I think the loyalty he has shown to Roma has to be commended. If he moved though he would be seen in a much higher light by those who dont follow Serie A – the silly people.
