coach has admitted that he could leave the club if his players no longer feel that he’s the man to take the club forward.

Speaking at the post-match press conference the Spaniard laid bare his feelings on a difficult six months in charge at the Stadio Olimpico.

“I didn’t come to Roma for the money. I am here because the club have faith in me. However, if the players don’t follow my lead, I might have to re-consider my future,” advised Enrique

“I will leave the club if the players no longer have faith in me and want me to go. You’d have to ask the players about that, though. But I don’t have the feeling they want me to go.”

Roma lost 3-0 to Fiorentina and had three players sent-off.  That match capped a miserable week for the giallorossi as they lost their previous game to Udinese and suspended striker Pablo Osvaldo after he punched teammate Erik Lamela.

Luis Enrique will hope that a change of fortune will come in their next Serie A fixture against table-topping Juventus on December 12.

Another issue for Enrique to contend with is the growing discontent from the Roma tifosi, some of whom made it clear during the defeat in Florence that they no longer wanted him at the club.

Once you lose the support of the fans then it is very difficult to stay at a club and Enrique is just about to find out how vocal and powerful the Giallorossi tifosi can be.

During the press conference Enrique also shrugged off the three red cards that Roma suffered, which will no doubt add more problems to an ever increasing list for the coach.

“Juan’s was a tackle in the box and can happen. Gago clearly made a mistake by going in to the challenge late. Bojan’s handling offence was an instinctive gesture.” insisted Enrique.

Also the non-appearance of fit-again was brought up and the Spaniard went on the defensive and praised the unused substitute.

“Of course, but I knew that before I even came toItaly. Francesco is the best player in the history of Roma, so it’s normal the fans call for him. I like this rapport between fans and players.”

The inevitable pressure that comes from managing a team in the capital appears to be showing on the former Barca B coach. He will need to display some of the qualities that marked him out as a player in his management style in the coming weeks to avoid paying the price for failing to lead the Roma revolution.

English AS Roma supporter living in Nottingham, England. I also follow the fortunes of local side Nottingham Forest and due to the locality spend far more time there than Rome. However, Calcio and Roma inparticular are big passions of mine and I enjoy writing articles about them. Fell in love with Italian football, like so many, in the early nineties thanks to the wonderful Robert Baggio. Still the best player I’ve ever seen. However, Roma are my team after a visit to the city a few years ago. I have my own blog for English speaking/readers called ASRomaUK at http://asromauk.blogspot.com for all of you fellow Giallorossi tifosi.
