Roma captain Francesco Totti achieved a remarkable record with his brace against Cesena, becoming the player who has scored the most goals for a single club. The record was previously held by Gunnar Nordahl of Milan.
The Giallorossi’s number 10 spoke to Sky Sport after the match.
“This is what I always wanted,” he said, “wearing the same shirt and breaking record after record, and in front of this crowd it’s even more fun. It’s the perfect Roma, a team that started on the right foot and who wants to continue like this.
“I’d like to dedicate to my sister in law, who gave birth two days ago, and the victims of Costa Concordia.”
Totti is now just five goals behind Giuseppe Meazza and José Altafini in the all-time Serie A goalscorers chart.
