Inter are planning to make a couple of signings to give the team a further boost ahead of the second part of the season, following their recent resurgence in the league. President Massimo Moratti confirmed an interest in Brazilian playmaker Lucas of Sao Paulo.

“[Marco] Branca has gone to Brazil to understand the situation,” he said to Repubblica.it. “I know Lucas is a talent. However, I’m also convinced the current squad still has the right characteristics to do well, but it’s normal that sometimes you have to change something.

“[Javier] Zanetti and [Esteban] Cambiasso should be praised for what they have given, unfortunately they can’t be cloned. It’s not easy to find players able to withstand the pressure of San Siro. We are evaluating a few options in South America, and we’ve already bought Juan Jesus.”

On midfielder Thiago Motta, who has been linked with a move to Paris Saint Germain, Moratti said: “Motta has made history for Inter and in my view he is unsellable, but in the market anything can happen and we hope he won’t leave. Motta has a lot of requests and I have to see what he wants to do.”
