Sunday’s match against Napoli was a special one for Milan midfielder Ignazio Abate, who celebrated his 100th appearance with the Rossoneri.
Milan CEO Adriano Galliani spoke about this important milestone for the club youth product with Sky Sport 24.
“Ignazio debuted with our shirt very young,” he said, “he was only 17. I remember, it was 2003 and we played against Sampdoria. After many journeys through Italy he returned here along with [Luca] Antonini in a co-ownership deal. Then we bought them back both and they will stay here for a while.
“It took him eight years to reach 100 appearances, but I think it will take him much less to reach 200. The club wishes him all the best and many victories with our shirt.”
Clubs Abate has played with include Napoli, Piacenza, Modena (all in Serie B), Empoli, and Torino. He returned to Milan in 2009 and stayed there ever since.
