Giuseppe Rossi’s agent has hinted that his client may look to leave Villarreal in the summer for a club with higher ambitions.
Eliminated from the Champions League in the group stages and sitting in 18th position in Spain’s La Liga, tThe Yellow Submarines have had a horrific campaign to date.
The American-born Italy striker’s representative, Frederico Pastorello, has indicated that Rossi will look to move on in the summer in a bid to win silverware.
Last summer Rossi was closely linked with a move back to Italy with Juventus while Barcelona also showed a keen interest in his services.
“At the age of 25 he has the desire to win something and to do that you need to be playing in an important club,” Pastorello was quoted on ESPN as saying.
“I’m not saying that Villarreal are not an important club, but to win the Champions League or a championship then you have to be playing for one of the top five or six clubs in the world.”
The 25-year-old has not played for his club since November after sustaining knee ligament damage.
