After an embarrassing series of defeats, tomorrow’s clash against Olympique Marseille could be the last chance for Inter coach . However, the man himself does not feel his job is on the line.

“Me getting sacked? I have more important thoughts,” he said to Gazzetta.it. “I’m not worried about what will happen the day after tomorrow.

“The players have to do well not for me, but for the great club they are playing for. We have to restart in the Champions League, we have two in-or-out matches, I want us to play a good match, even though we are going through a bad moment and they’re going through a good moment. I am determined for us to do well.”

Ranieri knows the team’s big names will have to give their all: “I’ve said several times that this team is neither old nor sick, but it can happen that there are moments when it shuts down, which have all coincided with the league. Now I hope that in the Champions League the champions and their pride will come out.”

Marseille coach Didier Deschamps claimed Inter are favourites going into this match despite their dismal league form.

“I’m happy to find back Didier, a person I respect,” said Ranieri, “I’ve heard that he considers us favourites. It’s fair because Inter won everything two years ago but it’s not that easy, because we are coming off a difficult period, while Marseille are doing very well, so we have to invert this tendency.”
