The striker feels the Partenopei have trounced one of the best teams on the planet.

“Napoli have beaten a powerhouse of world football,” Cavani affirmed after the match to Sky Sport Italia.

“Now we have an additional awareness of our strength.”

The Uruguayan was key in Napoli’s performance, scoring one and assisting another, he felt it was more of a collective triumph for the side.

“It was an extraordinary match by all [of us], not just me,” he continued.

“We prepared to perfection and we saw the results tonight.”

Speaking about his goal which took the Partenopei into the lead, he commented: “[Branislav] Ivanovic pushed me, the [Chelsea] defence wanted to run the ball out and then they realised that I was there. I scored with my shoulder!”

Napoli will will be hoping to seal the deal in the the second leg at Stamford Bridge on March 14.
