coach was full of superlatives for his side following their 3-1 win over in their round of 16 tie.

The Partenopei went a goal down after Juan Mata pounced on a Paolo Cannavaro error, but two goals and an strike gave the home side the win.

However, Napoli had plenty of opportunities with Christian Maggio having a shot cleared off the line with Petr Cech stranded.

“It’s disappointing [about the chance] for 4-1,” Mazzarri told to Mediaset Premium.

“We could have gone to London with greater calm. Our qualification is still at risk. We now need to go to Stamford Bridge and fight to go through.

“Having given away that stupid goal, this team has shown that it has grown in terms of professionalism and confidence.

“Before Mata’s lucky goal, we had created two clear chances for Maggio and Cavani, and the Ramires chance was the only time that we didn’t defend well.

“After the first goal we were a little scared and for 10 or 15 minutes – we lost our shape.

“This is a squad that does not give in. It has so many strengths and also today we’ve played a great game.”

Napoli will look to kill off the tie in the second leg at Stamford Bridge on March 14.
