serie a trainingCheck out our end-of-week training ground round-up as the Serie A teams prepare for the next set of fixtures.

Atalanta: Important game against Siena this weekend, which if La Dea win will take them to 40 points and virtual safety from the drop. German Denis is back training and could be set for a spot on the bench. Defender Gianpaolo Bellini is deemed fit and should make the starting line-up.

Bologna: Rene Krhin will be out for 5 months after having been operated on his cruciate ligament. The trip to Cesena sees Henry Gimenez back available to coach Stefano Pioli. Robert Acquafresca is expected to start ahead of striker Marco Di Vaio, who has been in poor form of late.

Cagliari: The Sardinians will face Inter in Trieste as issues with the Sant’Elia remain unresolved. Daniele Dessena, Fernando Sampaio and Sebastian Eriksson were the only absentees from training and the coach has the rest of the squad at his disposal.

Catania: Vincenzo Montella left out Nicolas Spolli and Giuseppe Bellusci from today’s training session as a precaution but both are expected to be recuperated for the match with Chievo. Sergio Almiron is also expected to be fit despite suffering from fatigue.

Cesena: Vangelis Moras will be unavailable due to injury against Bologna and the list continues to grow as Adrian Mutu and Daniel Pudil are both suspended. Vincenzo Iaquinta, Jorge Martinez and Marco Parolo will all miss out leaving coach Beretta with few options.

Chievo: Six players trained apart from the main squad today as Domenico Di Carlo prepares for the weekend match with Catania. Dario Dainelli, Francesco Acerbi, Gennnaro Sardo, Davide Mandelli, Bojan Jokic and Mikael Facchinetti will all miss the game.

Fiorentina: Emergency situation in Florence as Delio Rossi has some major fitness doubts in his squad. Per Koldrup and Alessandro Gamberini are already out along with the suspended Alessio Cerci and Riccardo Montolivo. But now the coach has to wait on whether Manuel Vargas, Mattia Cassani and Valon Behrami will be available as all three are nursing knocks.

Genoa: Returning boss Alberto Malesani has some good news as Andreas Granqvist and Juraj Kucka are once again available to play. The coach tested various formations in his training session as he prepares for the encounter with Novara.

Inter: As Andrea Stramaccioni organises his squad for the test with Cagliari, new boy Freddy Guarin could get his first Serie A start. With Julio Cesar and Lucio suspended, there will be a first team shirt waiting for Luca Castellazzi and Andrea Ranocchia.

Juventus: Antonio Conte is expected to drop his three man defence in favour of a return to 4-3-3 against Palermo. The main area of doubt is in attack as four players are in contention for a spot in the first eleven. However, Alessandro Matri is expected to win that particular battle.

Lazio: Edy Reja is yet again down to ‘bare bones’ as his squad remains decimated. Christian Brocchi looks set to miss out through injury and Stefan Radu is complaining of an ongoing knee problem. Miroslav Klose remains unavailable.

Lecce: Moris Carrozzieri and Christian Obodo are back in Serse Cosmi’s squad for the tough game with Roma. However, defender Andrea Esposito looks unlikely to recover in time.

AC Milan: More injury woes for Alexandre Pato who will once again be out of contention this weekend and risks missing the rest of the season. In stark contrast, Antonio Cassano trained in full today and may make a shock return to the team that faces Fiorentina on Saturday.

Napoli: The Partenopei will be without Andrea Dossena and Christian Maggio for the massive clash with Lazio. Walter Mazzarri might be forced into switching formation to a 4-3-1-2. Marek Hamsik could be moved into a deeper midfield role with Goran Pandev joining Ezequiel Lavezzi and Edinson Cavani in attack.

Novara: A must win game for Atillio Tesser as his side face Genoa at the weekend. Giuseppe Mascara is a doubt and may only be fit for the bench. Alberto Fontana will play in goal after Samir Ujkani injured his hand last weekend.

Palermo: Federico Balzaretti won’t be fit for the Juventus match and neither will Matias Aguirregaray. Eros Pisano may have recuperated for the weekend game along with Giulio Migliaccio.

Parma: In form duo Sergio Floccari and Sebastian Giovinco will once again lead the attack against Udinese. The rest of the team almost picks itself with the only doubt being which of Massimo Gobbi or Francesco Modesto gets the final spot in midfield.

Roma: Skipper Francesco Totti will definitely miss the Lecce game but Miralem Pjanic’s chances of being fit are increasing each day, as the Giallorossi hope to continue their chase for that final Champions League spot.

Siena: Coach Sannino is yet again toying with his formation as he readies his team for the match with Atalanta. Franco Brienza will be out through suspension and either Cristiano Del Grosso or Daniele Mannini will play on the left side of midfield.

Udinese: Things just get tougher for Udinese as their poor form continues and players remain unavailable. Diego Fabbrini and Antonio Floro Flores both miss out and will join Dusan Basta and Damiano Ferronetti on the sidelines. Either Paulo Barretto or Gabriel Torje will join Antonio Di Natale in attack.
