Reports coming out of Italy suggest that Liverpool have made a formal offer for Bologna star Gaston Ramirez.

According to Calciomercatonews.com, the Reds are believed to have offered a fee in the region of €16 million.

The 21-year-old has been with Uruguay at the Olympic Games in London, scoring in their first group game against United Arab Emirates.

Uruguay exited the tournament on Sunday following their loss against Team GB, which gives Ramirez the rest of the summer to sort out his future.

The Rossoblu signed the Uruguayan for €2.5 million in August 2010.
