Sneijder wants to stay and win it all at Inter
In an interview with Corriere dello Sport, Inter midfielder Wesley Sneijder spoke about the rejuvenation process the club is undergoing as well as his own desire to begin anew at Inter.
CdS: Sneijder, how have you managed to return to training so fit after a month off on vacation?
WS: “I have the desire to restart and do well with Inter. Last season nothing went right and I did not play well with Holland at the Euros either. At 28 years old I want to do my best, to win everything. I have no time to lose.”
Your first impressions of the new Inter after matches played against Celtic and Hajduk Split?
“The squad has changed a bit and we are not the Inter of 2010. With respect to two years ago, good, quality footballers arrived, but were too young. Also the manager was new and he liked his way of playing. All together we aim to win.”
Do you feel a new atmosphere around Inter?
“Yes because with respect to the past there have been several changes. I see a beautiful mix of youth and experience. We will do well.”
Have you thought of leaving Inter this summer?
“No because I’m not a person that contemplates too much on the future. It’s useless because noone knows what can happen. I am an Inter player and I’m not thinking of leaving. If some good offers arrive and I like them, then we’ll see. For now I haven’t received anything and I don’t have any desire to leave. My wish is to win everything here as a gift of appreciation to the president, the directors, and the supporters.”
An important offer from Russia, however, some weeks ago was offered…
“In this moment everyone knows which teams in the world have the most money and every once in a while one of these teams put in a bid. If I had arrived three to four years ago, I would have begun to think about it. I’m at Inter and I’m not thinking of leaving for the money. I want to win here. I don’t deny that money is important, it’s not everything and I prefer to play in a great team such as Inter.”
