Buffon Shoulders Part Of Blame For Draw

goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has admitted that he could perhaps have done more to prevent taking the lead in the side’s 2-2 draw last night.

The home side did lead in Sofia before goals from Pablo Osvaldo for the Azzurri helped them on their way to a point.

However, the goalkeeper was disappointed at his part in the opener: “The first goal was odd with the ball moving around in the air and I tried to stay still so it wouldn’t surprise me.

“But unfortunately that bounce took it over my arms and I certainly could have done better.”

He was also quick to praise their opponents for their performance and said they could even have went on to win the game.

“They certainly didn’t deserve to lose,” said Buffon. “In the last 20 minutes with 10 men we even risked losing and although we hoped to begin with three points but a draw isn’t to be thrown away either.”
