Juventus continued to stamp their authority as they beat AS Roma by four goals to one at the Juventus Arena.

The game started in a fiesty manner as tackles started flying in but the home side appeared to be at their element and Paolo De Ceglie looked sharp.

Martin Caceres found himself free on the near post and nearly scored for the the Old Lady.

The Giallorossi went close to being a man down as Rodrigo Taddei, who was the last man, tripped Claudio Marchisio on the edge of the box but escaped with only a yellow card.

The Bianconeri took full advantage from the resulting free kick and Andrea Pirlo fired in a low shot past a clueless Maarten Stekelenburg.

Juventus were on fire and continued to attack, prompting Stekelenburg to make a fine save. However, Castan handled the rebounding ball and gave away a penalty.

The home side doubled their lead in the 16th minute after Arturo Vidal stroked the ball into the bottom right hand corner.

The Lupi’s defensive woes continued to worsen. Alessandro Matri went past the offside trap, chested down Vidal’s cross and calmly slotted the ball past Stekelenburg in the 19th minute to increase the lead to three goals.

Roma were on the brink of imploding as both Nicolas Burdisso and Federico Balzaretti were booked. Balzaretti was substituted in the 38th minute and was replaced by 18-year-old Marquinhos.

Just as the Giallorossi were finding their feet, Mirko Vucinic thumped a shot which hit the crossbar. Erik Lamela and Pablo Osvaldo had half chances but were unable to make any difference as the first half came to a close.

Juventus continued to display their dominance in the second half and started in the same bright manner as Vucinic’s thunderbolt was brilliantly saved by Stekelenburg.

On some occassions, the Lupi did manage to hit the Bianconeri on the break but were unable to penetrate their formidable defense.

A desperate Zdenek Zeman made use of all of his substitutions in the 64th minute as Francesco Totti and Panagiotis Tachtsidis were replaced by Mattia Destro and Simone Perrotta respectively.

The introduction of Destro brought some much needed energy into the Roma side. In the 67th minute, he nearly scored with a fine volley which went periously close and a minute later, he won a penalty after being brought down by Leo Bonucci.

Pablo Osvlado stepped up for the Giallorossi and converted the penalty.

As Roma surged forward, Juventus did not sit behind. Bonucci scored in the 73rd minute but was flagged offside.

Matri and Marchisio were replaced by Kwadwo Asamoah and Sebastian Giovinco in the 77th minute.

The Giallorossi kept perservering to restore some pride but were undone when Giovinco scored from an acute angle after an incisive counter attacking build up in the 90th minute.
