Lazio defender Modibo Diakite is said to be shaken following an incident in which two of his cars were set on fire, fearing that Lazio ultras staged the operation.

The Frenchman has not stepped on the pitch this season for the capital club, having been frozen out of the side amidst a contract dispute.

The infernal episode occurred on Tuesday night outside Diakite’s current residence in Cesano, and saw his father-in-law’s car also targeted in addition to his two vehicles.

“The lad is obviously very shaken by what happened, not so much for the loss of the cars as the incident which was unpredictable and unthinkable,” the 25 year-old’s agent, Ulisse Savini, told TuttoMercatoWeb.

“He immediately realised what was happening when he saw the flames from the window.

“I don’t want to think that the contract dispute could have anything to do with this. It must’ve been the actions of a crazy arsonist.”
