The increased transfer speculation linking Inter midfielder Wesley Sneijder with a move across the city to AC Milan has been played down somewhat by club president Silvio Berlusconi.

Italy’s former Prime Minister attended Friday’s training session ahead of the weekend clash with Juventus and watched his side run out 1-0 winners thanks to a Robinho goal.

Berlusconi was understandably very pleased with the performance of his players, saying: “For the first time the players have had the knowledge of what is expected of them at a club like Milan.

“I believe that I have now made them aware about this, which is vital.”

Due to the constant injury concerns over striker Alexandre Pato, he was asked whether he regretted having not sold the Brazilian but is adamant that keeping a hold of ‘the Duck’ has been the right choice.

“I have never regretted not having sold Pato, not once. For the future we would like to make a team of young players and we can then start a new cycle.”

On the rumours linking his club with a move for Sneijder, he would only say: “Sneijder to Milan? There is no hypothesis for this.”
