Mattia Destro scored for Roma on Sunday in a 1-0 win at Pescara but felt he and his teammates should have been more lethal in front of goal.

The Italian international said: “We could have scored so many more.  Unfortunately I wasn’t able to put the ball away.”

The forward, 21, has struggled for form this season and lost his place in the Giallorossi’s starting line-up in recent weeks, but an injury to Erik Lamela meant he got an opportunity against Pescara.

“When the coach gives me a chance then I just look to give my best for the goodness of the team.

“It was an important win at Pescara.  They were three fundamental points that we happily took,” he added.

Destro scored from close range after five minutes when Pescara goalkeeper Mattia Perin parried a Francesco Totti freekick into his path.  It was the former Siena man’s second goal of the season.

The win propelled Roma up to fifth in table, level on points with city rivals Lazio.  It was only the second time this season they have recorded back-to-back victories.
