Inter only managed a 2-2 draw with Cagliari at the San Siro on Sunday in Serie A.

The Nerazzurri went ahead early on through Rodrigo Palacio before a Marco Sau double gave the Isolani the lead, but an late Davide Astori own goal rescued a point for Andrea Stramaccioni’s men.

Diego Milito had a great chance in the opening minute but he fired over the bar from the edge of the area, then Juan Jesus saw his header from a free-kick fly wide.

Palacio did find the back of the net when he headed home an Antonio Cassano cross.

Radja Nainggolan and Astori both went close for the away side, and Samir Handanovic magnificently saved from Nene.

But Cagliari did get their equaliser when Sau poked home an Andrea Cossu cross.

After the break Milito had a magnificent chance as Yuto Nagatomo crossed for the striker and with an empty net gaping, he smashed the ball over the barroom six yards.

Cagliari then took the lead as a Mauricio Pinilla overhead kick hit the post and Sau was on hand to tap the rebound in.

But late on Inter were given a lifeline as a Ricky Alvarez cross was put into the back of the net by Astori as he tried to clear the ball.

Trying for a winner, Inter swarmed forward and with Ranocchia and Coutinho both being brilliantly denied by Agazzi in the Cagliari goal.
