Pato’s future looks set to continue at AC Milan as the meeting between his agent and Adriano Galliani on Wednesday went well.

According to reports from the Italian media, the meeting between Gilmar Veloz and Galliani went smoothly making a January exit unlikely.

The most likely option had been a loan spell with Brazilian club Corinthians, while Chelsea and Manchester City are also said to be interested in the 23-year-old.

The meeting was cordial as both parties stated their opinions in composed tones with Pato speaking as well via a phone call. Galliani reaffirmed the club’s intentions to not sell him while his agent asked for present and future guarantees regarding the club.

Pato has a contract that expires in 2014, the year the World Cup will be played in Brazil. It is a tournament Pato wants to take part in, explaining why he wants to be assured of playing time with the Rossoneri.

Veloz spoke to Brazilian reporters, reaffirming Pato’s future with the Rossoneri.

“Pato is doing well in Europe so he doesn’t need to return to Brazil,” Veloz told O Tempo.

“He has 18 months remaining on his contract. It is unthinkable that an expensive player like him would be loaned out.”

“When there is something concrete then we can talk. But as of right now, he is happy at AC Milan.”
