Atalanta stunned Sampdoria at the Marassi and condemned them to their sixth successive defeat and in the process move themselves into the top half.

Giacomo Bonaventura struck early and Giuseppe De Luca scored in the second half to cancel out Enzo Maresca’s equaliser.

Cristian Raimondi set up Bonaventura after just two minutes to knock the ball home and stun Ciro Ferrara’s side so early in the game.

Not long afterwards, a sensational counter-attacking move saw La Dea agonisingly go even closer as German Denis had an effort come back off the upright.

They were to curse that post in the second half when Maresca scored his first goal for the Blucerchiati in some style, thumping home an outrageous overhead kick.

However, that goal proved to be in vain when Denis lost his marker and crossed low for substitute De Luca go get on the end and put his side again once more.
