Former AC Milan midfielder Clarence Seedorf has hinted that a surprise return to his old club could happen.
The 36-year-old spent 10 seasons with the Rossoneri before departing this summer to join Botafogo in Brazil but still believes that he has a lot to offer.
He told SkySport24: “With Milan, it is not a closed story and I am very attached to the Berlusconi family so the doors are open on both sides so yes I could return to Milan.
“I believe that I would be useful to any team in Europe. I did not leave because of [Massimiliano] Allegri but rather because after 10 years together, we decided to go our separate ways because I wanted to try new experiences.”
The four-time Champions League winner also urged his old club to stand by injury-prone striker Alexandre Pato as rumours increase that he could be on the verge of a departure from San Siro.
“I saw that he scored in the Champions League and I do not know the relationship with his peers and the coach but it is not a crisis,” said Seedorf. “He is a great talent so they must be patient because there are not many like him.”
