AC Milan chase Roma shot-stopper

AC Milan have been showing interest in AS Roma’s Maarten Stekelenburg, who has lost his place in the Giallorossi first team.

The Dutch custodian has been overtaken in the pecking order by Mauro Goicoechea after an early season injury and it is felt that he will not return to being the number one under Zdenek Zeman.

Milan have goalkeeping problems of their own with Marco Amelia having temporarily replaced Christian Abbiati between the sticks after the goalkeeper’s poor form.

In addition, Abbiati’s contract expires at season-end and it seems unlikely that the club will offer him a new deal.

The Brazilian Gabriel – who was signed during the summer – has failed to make an appearance, and it seems there could be a re-shuffling of the deck between the sticks.
