Wesley Sneijder looks set to leave current club Inter in the January transfer window, but he could stay in the city of Milano if his wife Yolanthe Cabau has a say in the move.

Sneijder’s stay with the Nerazzurri looks set to end after the club gave him an ultimatum regarding the signing of a new contract: sign a new deal with lowered wages, or remain on the sidelines.

This was followed by a meeting between Inter director Marco Branca and the Dutchmen’s agent, which did little to help this situation. And finally, Sneijder took to Twitter on Wednesday despite the club’s warning to him to do otherwise.

Given all this, a transfer seems like the most plausible option with several clubs lined up to swoop in for the 28-year-old midfielder. Fenerbahce, both Manchester clubs and PSG have all shown interest but the final say could rest in the hands of Sneijder’s wife, Yolanthe Cabau.

She has stated that she has no intention of leaving the city of Milano as she has no intention of moving to another country. This isn’t to be taken lightly, especially if one remembers how much of a say Zinedine Zidane and Andriy Shevchenko’s wife had in their respective transfers.

This would leave AC Milan as a plausible option to sign Sneijder from their city rivals, although it remains to be seen whether they would meet Inter’s €15 million evaluation of the player.
