Giuseppe Rossi has revealed that his transfer to Fiorentina was agreed upon in a New York restaurant.
The Italian international agreed to move to the Viola from Spanish side Villarreal on Friday though he won’t be available until mid-March as he is still recovering from his second major knee surgery in the past year and a half.
“I want to thank Villarreal as they were more than a team to me, they were a family,” Rossi wrote on his Twitter account.
“El Submarino will always remain in my heart. I want to thank the fans for their support, both in good moments and those that were less happy. I can never forget all that you’ve given me.”
It is believed Fiorentina agreed to sign the American born forward for €11m plus €5m in performance-related bonuses.
He will sign a four-and-a-half-year contract worth €2m plus bonuses.
