Kevin-Prince BoatengKevin-Prince Boateng has led Milan off the field in a friendly away at Pro Patria after being subject to racist chants.

Just under half-an-hour into the game Boateng picked up the ball and kicked it towards the offending supporters, before marching off the field with his teammates, applauded by much of the crowd in the process.

“Shame that these things still happen… #StopRacismForever,” tweeted the Ghanaian, while coach Max Allegri added: “We promise to return, and we are sorry for the club and players of Pro Patria, but we could not make any other decision. I hope it can be an important signal.”

“We made the decision to stop, but with the promise that we will come back here to play for families and children who were present,” said captain Ambrosini. “I’m sorry but we had to give a strong signal against racism. I decided to leave the field the more I talked to my teammates.”

This incident comes just days after Patrick Viera told The Times: “I believe that Italy doesn’t want to fight racism.”
