Allegri will be at AC Milan next season

vice-president Adriano Galliani has reassured the clubs current coach, , that the club intend to continue forward with him for the 2013-2014 season.

Rumours of a possible switch, to Zdenek Zeman’s recently vacated position, on the Roma bench had surfaced, but the Milan hierarchy moved quickly to rubbish these links.

“Allegri will still be the Milan boss next season. He’s a good tactician and we’ve always known that. He reminds me of Carlo Ancelotti, for how balanced he is,” Galliani said.

There were calls for the Milan hierarchy to replace Allegri earlier in the season, due to a less than impressive start. However the club are now reaping the benefit of keeping the faith in their coach.

Following a run of impressive results, which have seen the club win eight of their last ten matches, the Rossoneri are joint with city rivals Inter on 40 points in the league.

The pre-season expectation of finishing in the Champions League places looks more than achievable as they lie only three points away from third place Lazio, while they have also found consistent form.

About the Author

- There was always an Italian presence in the home during my childhood, as my parents often lodged out the spare-room to Italian students. Already a child with a keen interest in football, the obsession with calcio that came along with these visitors seemed only natural. Thankfully, I outgrew a Parma jersey I received as a gift from one such student, and traded it for a Roma shirt. The lure of Zeman's gladiator's was irresistible, as was the technique of the young maestro Francesco Totti. 15 years on, and although Totti has gone from young prodigy to legend, Zeman is back and I'm still waving the red and yellow flag.
