Marco De Marchi, agent of Liverpool striker Fabio Borini, has spoken about the injury his player has recently suffered and comments on the possibility of a summer move to Fiorentina.

Borini, who has made 16 appearances for the Reds this season, dislocated his shoulder after a collision with Swansea City’s Kyle Bartley after only eight minutes on the pitch.

Speaking to Tuttomercatoweb.com, De Marchi said: “It’s been an unlucky season, before it was a foot injury which he was recovering from.

“He started to play with the Under-21s against Germany in early February, where he scored a goal, but now this is a new and sad episode of his career.

“He’s already had an injury of this type in the other shoulder, so this time we know how to move. The doctors will determine if he should need surgery.

“If this is the case, the recovery time will be longer, and his season with Liverpool will almost certainly be complete. We hope the boy is able to recover at least in time for the European Championships with the national team.

“Is his future still with Liverpool?  Undoubtedly, Fabio has a long-term contract with one of the most glorious teams in world football.

“From now on he will think only about working hard to get back as soon as possible to the field.”

Do Fiorentina really need another striker? Come on they have Rossi and Toni! Lol Don’t get me wrong would like to see Borini back in Italy but he needs first team action.

    Nic,

With Jovetic’s future up in the air, it isn’t really a bad idea for Fiorentina. Toni is aging, and Rossi is a sick-note. Borini is young and clearly has potential, but Italian players have had difficulty settling in England(and Liverpool in particular, just take a look at another former Red at top form for the Viola)

I agree with you that the best thing for Borini would be to land at a club where he could make regular first-team appearances. Another stint at Swansea would have been great, all things considered – I imagine him and Michu would be a nightmare to mark considering how mercurial they both are. But he’s had a bad bit of luck with injuries, and is in sort of a limbo state because big clubs want the Borini at full form, though most aren’t willing to give him the extended run he needs to get there.

Rodgers clearly likes him though, and when he is back next season I can definitely see him making 20+ appearances. The only problem is, how do you displace Suarez or Sturridge?

  3. Nic Petruzziello says:

I think if Montella stays at the viola, I don’t see Jovetic leaving the club but that’s just my opinion. Totally agree with you though about italian players in the premier league, most suffer and it’s rare to see an italian adapt to the English game. (Unless your Mario Balotelli)
But I really like Borini and I hope he returns to Italy and gets his confidence back, but rumours have it that Suarez is on his way to Bayern with pep next season. So Borini might feel he can get into the starting 11 at Liverpool.

  4. Albert Barsanti says:

Definitely agreed. I’d like to see Jovetic stay. Many thought this would be his make or break year to really fulfill his potential and he’s done very well in doing that.

Suarez is a weird case, in my opinion. On one hand, he’s clearly one of the world’s top strikers on his day – take a look at his three assists against United last year, that really says it all. On the other hand though, he has two pretty big points against him: the obvious volatility (biting incident, theatrics and the racial abuse saga) and also he still runs a bit hot and cold.

Pep will have Lewandowski soon too, reports indicate that is all but confirmed. With him, Gomez, Muller and Mandzukic, as well as Robben as a wide forward and Ribery very similar to Messi in the deep forward position, I can’t see them splashing the cash on Suarez. I’d put my money on a move to Juventus before a move to Munich to be honest.

I can see them splashing the cash for Suarez, like you say his an awesome player and any side would love to make him part of their squad.

Plus his young and Bayern are slowly ageing and Pep will want young in his team and bring the same philosophy he had a Barcelona.

But defo could fit in at Juve if they sell Matri and Quagliarella. He’d also fit into the italian game as well, so most of the major clubs in italy will be after him.

Dont Juve want Falcao or is he defo going to Chelsea?

Too many good strikers Albert lol Balotelli got to be the best right now lol 🙂

No chance that viola will buy suarez. He’s liverpools most important striker and thers no way they will sell him. I guess getting borini might be ok, i havent seen anything of the boy in premier league so ive got no clue how good he is.

Lisandro Lopez contract runs out in the summer, id rather we signed him than borini tbh.
