Delio Rossi makes gesture during Sampdoria v Roma

Sampdoria coach Delio Rossi has claimed he did nothing to spark the end of match brawl with Roma.

The Blucerchiati defeated the Giallorossi 3-1 at the Stadio Ferraris, but Rossi was sent to the stands in the final moments after a row with Nicolas Burdisso.

“I cleared the air with the Roma players, everything is fine. These things happen on the pitch and they end there,” he told reporters.

“There was no gesture, nor drama, but the tension and irritability of the match situation ends at the final whistle.

“Roma put us under pressure in midfield, where we did not do that well, but this was an important victory against a great team.

“I have some talented players and they have dedicated themselves to my vision completely. A Coach can propose anything he wants, but if the players don’t listen then it’s pointless.”
