AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi hopes that recent signing Mario Balotelli will translate his on the pitch attitude to the way he behaves off it.

Berlusconi believes that Balotelli is an irreproachable character in training and during matches, but sometimes suffers from a volatile nature when tempted off the pitch.

“Balotelli has become a phenomenon,” Berlusconi told Radio Lombardia.

“He’s a star centre-forward, someone who stops the traffic when he walks around the streets of Milan.

“He’s had a fortunate start,” Berlusconi added, referring to Balotelli’s four goals in his first three matches.

“Let us hope that he continues in such a way and we hope he continues to comport himself in the right way.

“He’s irreproachable in training and in games, but, when he’s provoked outside, then he perhaps sometimes exaggerates.

“We’re staying very close to him with affection and we’re looking to make sure that he doesn’t exaggerate any more.”

Balotelli is a new signing at the San Siro, having made the move from Manchester City for €20 million in January.
