Juventus could face an unexpected opponent in the tunnel when they visit Glasgow to meet Celtic in the Champions League last 16.

Rap superstar Snoop Dogg has admitted that he is so keen to attend next week’s game that he would lead out the home side as a mascot.

Speaking in Dubai before performing at a New Year’s Eve concert, the rapper and sometime actor wore a Celtic scarf and declared his hope to be at Parkhead.

“It’s the one I need to go to. It’s the game we’ve been waiting for.

“I need tickets but I want to walk out with the team like a little kid with a banner. Yes, yes make it happen.

“Hail, hail the Celts are here. Yabadabadoo!”

The Los Angeles-based star, who recently changed his moniker to Snoop Lion following a conversion to Rastafarianism, has expressed an interest in investing in the Scottish giants having been impressed by their victory over Barcelona in the group stages.

He said: “I fell in love with the club and what better way to show my support than to be part of it.

“I just want to learn more about it and I figured if I become part of it, I’ll do that. I see how passionate Celtic fans are about their team and I could see myself making an investment if any of the board wanted to sell.”

The 41-year-old, real name Calvin Broadus, has also identified Greek striker Georgios Samaras as key to Celtic’s hopes of success.

“I like Samaras a lot. He looks like a proper athlete and is a pretty dangerous player. If we are to go far in Europe, he needs to play well.”

Celtic manager Neil Lennon welcomed the prospect of the rapper’s involvement with one caveat, stating “as long as I got invited to one of his parties it would be OK.”
