Alessandro Costacurta: Juventus can hurt Bayern Munich

Former AC Milan and Italian national team defender Alessandro Costacurta believes that can overcome in the quarter-finals of the .

Although the Bundesliga giants pose a difficult and tricky opponent, Costacurta feels that the Bianconeri have it within themselves to get a positive result over both legs and move on to the semi-finals.

Nonetheless, given the nature of their opposition, the Serie A leaders will have to have all their tactics spot-on from the very beginning.

“It will be very difficult for Juventus,” he stated in an interview with Sky Sport Italia.

“The level of German sides is always high and they have an important mentality.

“[However], Bayern do [tend to] suffer when they are counter-attacked seeing as their central defenders are their weak point.”

Both Juventus and Bayern Munich have had successful seasons so far in their respective leagues as well as in the Champions League. The two sides have faced each other six times before in the competition, with the Bianconeri having the upper hand over the Germans with three victories versus their two.

However, Bayern were the last team to defeat Juventus in the Champions League, registering a 4-1 victory over the Turin giants in December 2009.

About the Author

- I'm an aspiring journalist who has been a fan of football for as long as I can remember. Started playing at the age of 4 and growing up, Pele vs. Maradona was debated in my house almost as much as the latest presidential candidate. I'm a huge fan of Milan as well as the Italian and Ghanaian NT's (where my family hails from). You can find me talking about the beautiful game with everyone from friends, family, random strangers--anyone willing to listen. So, after years of putting up with me constantly running my mouth, some buddies suggested I put my thoughts down on paper, and I started writing last year for fun in my spare time.
