Atalanta general director Pierpaolo Marino has asserted the Bergamo side’s intentions to retain the services of Giacomo Bonaventura beyond the end of this year.

The 23 year-old has been linked with a bevy of other clubs, among them Juventus, after drawing attention with some wonderful performances this season.

“Bonaventura is a really strong player, but he can still improve,” Marino said. “We’ll try to keep him for one more season.”

The attacking midfielder, who graduated from the Orobici youth academy, has tallied six goals and one assist in 26 Serie A appearances over the current campaign.
