Pescara’s Mattia Perin could be playing for AC Milan or Juventus in the not too distant future according to the Delfini’s sporting director, Daniele Delli Carri.

Despite conceding the most goals in Serie A and recently being relegated to the bench, the young goalkeeper is held in high regard by the Delfini‘s officials.

“He is destined for great things,” stated Delli Carri in a chat with Radio Toscana.

“I think in the future that he will play for Milan or Juventus.”

Despite being only 20-years-old, he is already being touted as the heir to legendary Juventus and Italian national team goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon.

“I believe that he is ready to be the post-Buffon [and] I have no doubts that he’ll be there after Buffon on the international stage.”

Delli Carri also hailed the youngster’s professionalism, comparing his attitude both on and off the pitch to someone a decade older.

“He’s an exemplary professional for someone who was [only] born in 1992, [especially] the way he trains.”

Perin began his professional career in 2010 with Genoa before being subsequently loaned out to Serie B side Padova in 2011 and then Pescara in 2012. An Italian Under-21 international, he received his first call-up to the senior national team in August 2012 for a friendly match versus England but did not feature.

He has lots of potential and think he will do well at a big club in perhaps a couple of years time. Needs to get his feet wet for a bit more before making the jump, otherwise will end up riding the bench like that kid Gabriel over at Milan. Think he will be best served to ply his trade for a bit either in Serie B or at a “smaller” club to get more experience.
