Emeghara: I can be the new Inzaghi

Siena striker Innocent Emeghara believes he can be Serie A’s latest answer to league legend ‘Pippo’ Inzaghi.

The 2006 World Cup winner scored over 300 goals across his lengthy career for both club and country while Emeghara has enjoyed an excellent start to life at the Monte Paschi.

He told Corriere dello Sport: “My friends in Zurich were crazy about Inzaghi and were big fans of his, he was a great goalscorer both at home and in Europe.

“Everyone has their own way of making goals, there is the way of [Lionel] Messi or [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic but there is also the way of Inzaghi.

“On the field, but especially in the penalty area, if you have speed and intelligence, it is hard for defenders to anticipate this and in that way I am smart and fast like Inzgahi.”

The 23-year-old has scored five goals in seven appearances so far for the relegation battlers this campaign.
