Former Inter great reveals he told club to sign Cristiano Ronaldo
Former Inter director Luis “Luisito” Suarez has revealed he told the club to sign Cristiano Ronaldo before his move to Sporting Lisbon, but had his suggestion turned down.
Suarez is a former player, coach and director with the Nerazzurri and along with his revelation, the 77-year-old talked about the current Inter squad.
“I brought Zanetti and Roberto Carlos to Inter even if they got rid of the latter only a year later,” he told Radio Mana Mana.
“I also told them about Cristiano Ronaldo as he was doing incredible things in the Primavera. The club didn’t listen to me: he went to Sporting before playing for Sir Alex Ferguson and Jose Mourinho. You could tell he was special then.”
He also commented on the current state of the club, while pinpointing their greatest need moving forward.
“It is difficult to judge the club, there have been a lot of changes and the club made a choice to give away strong players while signing normal ones. I think it has all been planned in order to reduce costs.”
“Inter need a player in the middle of the field that has technique and pace, but they can’t seem to find that.”
