Former Inter great reveals he told club to sign Cristiano Ronaldo

Former director Luis “Luisito” Suarez has revealed he told the club to sign before his move to Sporting Lisbon, but had his suggestion turned down.

Suarez is a former player, coach and director with the Nerazzurri and along with his revelation, the 77-year-old talked about the current Inter squad.

“I brought Zanetti and to Inter even if they got rid of the latter only a year later,” he told Radio Mana Mana.

“I also told them about Cristiano Ronaldo as he was doing incredible things in the Primavera. The club didn’t listen to me: he went to Sporting before playing for Sir Alex Ferguson and . You could tell he was special then.”

He also commented on the current state of the club, while pinpointing their greatest need moving forward.

“It is difficult to judge the club, there have been a lot of changes and the club made a choice to give away strong players while signing normal ones. I think it has all been planned in order to reduce costs.”

“Inter need a player in the middle of the field that has technique and pace, but they can’t seem to find that.”

- A passionate F.C. Internazionale supporter since the young age of 10, my love for the club came about on a family trip to Italy after their signing of Roberto Baggio. Much to the dismay of my father (a Milan fan) my love for the club only grew stronger and has taken me on trips to Genova and Boston to see my club in action. The greatest of these journeys was being blessed by incredible luck (to which this day I still cannot comprehend) which allowed me to travel to Madrid, see the 2010 Champions League Final in the flesh and experience a week-long trip that will probably never be surpassed. Feel free to add me on Twitter to talk about Inter, Italy or calcio in general @Boin44
