Former Roma coach praises Francesco Totti

Former coach has revealed his admiration for , while stating that he could be useful for Italy in the .

Mazzone, who is an ex-player and ex-coach of the Giallorossi, expressed his admiration for Totti after Azzurri boss acknowledged that he may consider calling the veteran up for international duty.

The 76-year-old shared his feelings for the Lupi captain with Sky Sport Italia, and also mentioned the confidence he has in Prandelli’s decisions.

“Francesco is still in excellent physical shape,” said the retired coach.

“He may be getting older, but the substance is still there and he is still a great player.”

“Prandelli is a well prepared tactician who is doing well, he observes everything and makes the right choices. When the time to make that decision comes then Prandelli will do so.”

Despite his age, Francesco Totti is still wowing the Italian football world as he recently moved into second place on the Serie A all-time top goal scorers list with 226 goals.

“I compliment Totti for the way he behaves off the pitch, because without that a 36-year-old wouldn’t still be on the field of play,” he added.

The Roma captain will be almost 38 by the time the 2014 World Cup takes place, and hasn’t made an appearance for Italy since the 2006 final won by the Azzurri against France.
