Mazzone: I compliment Totti
Roma legend Carlo Mazzone hailed Giallorossi captain Francesco Totti, and believes that he can still play a part for the Azzurri.
Cesare Prandelli told press “We have an obligation to consider him as long as he plays like he is young”, and Mazzone believes calling him back wouldn’t be a bad idea.
“Francesco is still in excellent physical shape,” the former Roma centre back told Sky Sport Italia on Tuesday morning. “He may be getting older, but the substance is still there and he is still a great player”.
“Prandelli is a well prepared tactician who is doing well, he observes everything and makes the right choices.
“When the time to make that decision comes then Prandelli will do so,” said Mazzone. “I compliment Totti for the way he behaves off the pitch, because without that a 36-year-old wouldn’t still be on the field of play.”
Totti retired from Italy after the World Cup win in 2006.
