Riccardo Montolivo has been confirming the importance of AC Milan’s left-back Kévin Constant to the team, speaking as the club travel to Barcelona to face the Spanish giants in the second leg of the Champions League.

Despite only having arrived at Milan in the summer, 25-year-old Constant has been a regular selection for the Rossoneri, playing twenty-four games in all competitions, and is in line to feature in the game this evening.

Montolivo was talking in an interview to beInsport, and revealed he “knew little ” of Constant before he joined the club, adding “it was a pleasant surprise” to find he was as good a player, and a team-mate as he has become.

“We have a good relationship”, the Italian international added, “he is always cheerful lad, and is very positive” while admitting that the Guinean defender “has become an important player for us”

Milan signed Constant on a permanent deal from Genoa in January, after he impressed in a loan spell during the early part of 2012/13.

He has yet to open his account for the Rossoneri, but may well get another chance to do so in tonight’s return against Barcelona, a game that Milan start with a 2-0 lead after triumphing in the first leg at home a couple of weeks ago.
