Napoli continue to be linked with Brazilian striker
Internacional striker Leandro Damiao continues to be linked with a move to Napoli, as rumours of Edinson Cavani’s departure continue to grow.
Il Matador has been linked with Real Madrid, Manchester City and PSG in recent times despite his a massive buy-out clause in his contract.
As a result, Napoli have been linked with several replacements and Damiao has consistently been linked with a move to the Partenopei as a result.
Il Mattino are reporting that Napoli have already lined up €22 million for the Brazilian but Giovanni Luigi, president of Internacional, has denied those reports.
“Have Napoli made us an offer for Damiao? Absolutely not, and we have had no contact with them,” the Internacional president told reporters.
“Other Italian clubs have shown interest in the player but only in the past, as there is nothing at the moment. Actually, there are only English and Spanish clubs interest in him at the moment.”
“Do we want to keep him even if there is a big offer? Yes, because the financial benefits aren’t as important as the footballing benefits.”
“What does the player think? Everyone would like to have an experience in Europe, but for now we are not talking about it, therefore he will not leave in the summer either. The player is very happy at Porto Alegre.”
