Newcastle defender admits he could leave the club

Newcastle United defender Davide Santon has admitted he could leave the club after reported interest from AC Milan.

The 22-year-old has repeatedly been linked with a move back to Serie A, despite being a key part of the Magpies’ defence.

“I’ve heard of the interest from Milan in me and that is really pleasing,” he told the press.

“I have a contract with Newcastle unti 2016, and I also have an English girlfriend, but that doesn’t mean that I’ll stay here.

“I don’t know what would happen if another Italian club came in for me, but I would seriously think about leaving for Milan.

“I owe Inter a lot, and I was happy there, but it’s not my fault that I was born as a Milanista.”
