Shocking news has hit the peninsula as it has been reported that a chartered Alitalia flight from Florence to Geneva was struck by lightning during landing.  The aircraft was carrying the current Italian national team to Switzerland for the impending friendly against Brazil.

Miraculously, despite some panic onboard the plane suffered no damage and no passengers were hurt during the ordeal.  Reports have suggested that as soon as the plane landed, the captain explained exactly what had happened to holiday makers and sportsmen alike.

Captain Roberto Andolfato clarified, “We got hit by a bolt of lightning but everything was under control”.

The Azzurri face Brazil tomorrow in the glamour friendly before they play Malta next week.
