Corinthians midfielder and longtime Inter target Paulinho has admitted that the reason he turned down a move to the club was because he was afraid.

The Nerazzurri had been tracking the Brazilian since last summer before making a move for him in January, a move that the player himself did not agree to.

In an interview with SportTV, the 24-year-old said: “On that occasion, Inter certainly made me an attractive offer but I said no to them because I was afraid.

“On the occasion, I was afraid to make a decision which I would have regretted later.”

The Brazil international is also being tracked by Chelsea and it is unclear whether the Beneamata will make a fresh move for him in the summer.
