Torino Look To Croatian Striker?
Mainz strikerĀ Ivan Klasnic who is out of contract at the season, leading to speculation that Torino may re-ignite their interest in the player, who was very much on their shopping list a few years ago.
The 33-year-old Croatian has been playing in the Bundesliga with Mainz this season, but has only made two appearances and, with him being on a one year contract, there is no extension in place for him and he will become a free agent.
In 2008, there was a strong rumour he would join the Granata, and the idea of signing him for nothing may well still appeal to the club.
CalcioMercato.com have been alerted to the idea of the deal, as Torino may yet find themselves looking for a striker over the summer, and having already courted Klasnic, who has played 41 times for Croatia since 2004, they may try again to bring him in to the club.
Torino have struggled for goals this season, scoring only 32 in their 27 games so far, and Klasnic has been a regular scorer wherever he has been, in his career with Werder Bremen, Nantes and Bolton Wanderers before his most recent spell in Germany with Mainz, but his lack of appearances have been has been a disappointment for the striker this season.
