Controversial Palermo club president Maurizio Zamparini blasted officials on Tuesday, claiming they were most at fault for Palermo’s position in the league table.

The Rosaneri been flirting with relegation all season and now find themselves propping up the table five points from safety in last place, and according to ‘Zampa,’ much of that comes down to refereeing decision that have not gone their way.

“Palermo is going down due to the referees’ decisions,” Zamparini said. “When playing AC Milan, it is no surprise.

“I did not like the attitude of the referee at all, but this has gone on since the beginning of the season, just look at all the penalties given against us compared to those for us.”

The Sicilian side lost to Milan 2-0 on Sunday via a double from Mario Balotelli, with his first coming from a penalty after Salvatore Aronica was adjudged to have fouled the Italian international.

However, Palermo believe that Rossonero centre-back Christian Zapata should have been sent off for what appeared to be an intentional handball.

Palermo’s nest match is against Roma at home, while relegation rivals Genoa and Siena square off at the Marassi. Both matches are scheduled to take place on March 30.
