AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli has been named as one of the world’s 100 most influential people of 2013 by Time magazine.

He fell under the category of “Icons” and will collect his honour by leaving for New York next Monday apparently.

The magazine’s website interviewed Gianfranco Zola about the striker who believes he can continue to improve: “He has all the qualities to be a top player: power, athleticism, good vision.

“I worked with him for a time in the Italy U21 side and was impressed by his calmness because he can ignore what is happening around him and only the great players have that calm.”

The Watford boss also believes that people may sometimes get the wrong idea when it comes to judging the Rossoneri hitman.

“He must control himself in crucial moments, this is vital for him,” Zola continued. “People may think he is crazy but I assure you he is not.

“It is always a pleasure to be around him. He returned from England as the man of the moment and now must stay focused and maintain control.”

The Cagliari legend added: “Mario loves the pressure but to be successful, he must find a balance.”
