In response to fan related trouble, the Rome Prefect has declared that the Derby della Capitale may played behind closed doors.

This newest declaration comes in response to clashes between Roma and Lazio supporters before the clubs played out a 1-1 draw last Monday.

The police had their hands full as the commotion saw several arrests and minor stab wounds.

Rome Prefect Giuseppe Pecoraro has come out to say that he will not entertain the idea of an evening kick-off for the fiery match anymore with security reasons being the main culprit for the change.

However, should tensions between the fans continue to erupt in a violent way, he could be forced to an even more extreme action.

“The preparations we’ll take will help to normalise the situation,” Pecoraro said to RaiSport1.

“They can also be a signal to the fans. If it’s still not enough, then we will think of more drastic measures, such as playing behind closed doors or moving the game to another venue.

“It would be very damaging to all the supporters.”
