Lazio sporting director Igli Tare is in Germany to hold talks with Borussia Mönchengladbach over the transfer of Granit Xhaka according to reports in Italy.
The 39-year-old is officially in Germany for family reasons, but cittaceleste.it are reporting that the former striker is there in order to hammer out a deal for the Swiss youngster.
Despite making 18 appearances for the German club this season, he has been heavily linked with a move away from the Bundesliga side.
The Biancocelesti are interested in signing the former Basel standout, and are pushing for a loan deal with an option to sign the player at a later date for €6 million.
It remains to be seen whether Borussia Mönchengladbach will accept the offer since they signed the 20-year-old only last summer for a fee close to €8.5 million.
