With Sunday afternoon’s stalemate relegating Queens Park Rangers from Premier League former Internazionale keeper Julio Cesar could have moved nearer a return to Italy with city cousins AC Milan.

Despite having a contract until 2016, Calciomercato.com report that the London club have an agreement that will allow the Brazilian to depart now they have been demoted, with them needing to undertake a process of reducing a significant wage bill.

The 33-year-old was an unused substitute at the weekend, believed to be in punishment for a photograph of him wearing a Chelsea shirt at compatriot David Luiz’ birthday party was posted on Instagram by wife Susana Werner.

Although in the latter stages of his career Cesar is still two years younger than current Milan number one Christian Abbiati, however, his contract expires at the end of the season and a campaign interrupted by injury has reduced the faith coach Massimilano Allegri has in the Italian.

The only potential barrier to a deal could be that the Brazilian would occupy one of Milan’s non-EU player squad places.

If the deal is completed this summer the stopper would join fellow former Inter players Mario Balotelli, Sulley Muntari and Giampaolo Pazzini at the San Siro.
