With Roma still chasing the final Champions League spot, it seems that should they qualify, it would be a quite different squad who take to the field in the tournament next season.

There are reports coming out of the capital today that up to eight players’ Roma careers are in doubt, all of whom could be moved on during the summer transfer window.

Among them, according to Calciomercato, are two goalkeepers in Maarten Stekelenburg and Mauro Goicoechea as neither have really made the number one spot their own due to some high-profile errors throughout the season.

The club are also disappointed with the performances of defenders Ivan Piris and Nicolas Burdisso who have not lived up to the early expectations.

Marquinho has also had a frustratingly inconsistent season in the eyes of the Giallorossi hierarchy and his future could also lie elsewhere as could young midfielder Panagiotis Tachtsidis who has found himself benched more often that not since Zdenek Zeman’s departure.

Simone Perrotta could also be moved on with a free transfer (but may also be offered a coaching role come June) while striker Pablo Osvaldo looks certain to be leaving due to his strained relationship with the club.

The club do want to keep their trio of Daniele De Rossi, Miralem Pjanic and Marquinhos but could be forced into selling one or more of them due to their high market value while De Rossi could possibly be moved on to help significantly reduce the wage bill.

Another trio, Francesco Totti, Erik Lamela and Alessandro Florenzi are thought to be the players who have impressed the club most throughout a mixed campaign.
